ReStore History
In September 1992, the first Habitat for Humanity ReStore in the U.S. opened its doors in Austin, Texas. At that time the ReStores were known to sell building materials only. Today there are 550 stores strong in operation. The Habitat ReStores sell everything from household items to furniture and building material.
- Habitat ReStores are a program of the affiliate and their primary mission is to provide additional funding to support the affiliates house building goals.
- Expand opportunities to serve a broader base of the low income community by providing low cost materials
- Provide good stewardship of the substantial resources in the community
